My journey from a member to a General Manager has been an experience I will always be grateful for. I love the UPLIFT culture at VASA-our leaders actually live it!. I became the GM at Ogden in Utah and feel so lucky to have gotten the opportunity. I wanted to pay forward the kindness and motivation my GM had given me. After training clients for eight months, I was ready to take the skills I had learned and apply them to a leadership role. While working the front desk, I was also getting my Personal Training certifications and had the honor of doing for others what my trainer had done for me. The General Manager made all her team members feel valued, recognized, and celebrated. My passion for health and fitness had grown tremendously, and I felt like I needed to be a part of VASA on a new level. I was about a year into my Personal Training journey when the opportunity to work for VASA came up. I started competing in powerlifting and placed first in both State and Nationals for my weight class. I felt better, stronger, and gained muscle. I never thought I'd do Personal Training, but it was probably the best decision I made because it helped me not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.ĭuring my personal training journey, I went from 302 pounds down to 220 pounds. I knew I needed some help, and the leaders at the club set me up for success and introduced me to a great Personal Trainer. I was focusing on my health, working out more often, and getting stronger, but as much as I tried, I couldn’t move around comfortably at 300 pounds. 'Every time I get asked, “How long have you been at VASA,” I like to include my time as a member because I feel that is when my journey first started.
